Severely depressed woman experiences “wonderful healing”- thanks to “Heart Fund”

A medical assistant only found a way out of the deep valley of depression after two decades – at an AUSWEGE/WAYS OUT therapy camp. Previously, psychotherapy and pills hadn’t helped her.

Andrea* (49), a medical assistant, suffered from severe depression for 20 years.
She was constantly “sad, joyless, restless, and stressed,” she complained. “My heart is closed. Since I’m abandoned continuously, it seems I’m not wanted. I often cry.
I still somehow function.”

She blames her parents primarily for this: “If they had surrounded me with love, I would certainly have more self-confidence, self-assurance, and self-love.” Andrea has “virtually no contact” with her four siblings. One marriage ended in divorce in 2003. After “brief attempts” to start a new relationship, Andrea has been living alone for three years, “annoyed by men.” She takes psychotropic drugs that cause her unpleasant side effects, but no improvement. After psychotherapy failed, Andrea was close to being admitted to a psychiatric hospital.

The HEART FUND offered her an alternative: with around 1,000 euros, it enabled her to participate in a therapy camp run by the Auswege/Ways Out Foundation.

There, over a dozen therapists – including a doctor and three alternative practitioners – offered her a wide range of unconventional treatments for nine days: from naturopathic medicine to acupuncture, Tui Na massage, healing hypnosis, sound therapy, Watsu (water shiatsu), homeopathy, Bach flower therapy, spagyrics (with plant extracts), Schüssler biochemistry, meditation, deep relaxation techniques, spiritual life coaching, Buddhist psychotherapy, and spiritual healing.
