What the mainstream media is hiding

The population overestimates the risk of succumbing to an infection with SARS-CoV-2 by up to a thousand times in surveys. These results alone demonstrate the monstrous extent of the disinformation that the mass media have been engaging in since the Chinese viral horror began in January 2020.
How likely is it, depending on the age group, to die with or from Covid-19? Not just by a hair’s breadth, but miles away from it lie widespread speculations about it. According to the most cited study on the subject, the Infection Fatality Rate (IFR) for those under 40 is around 0.01%. In surveys that the University of Southern California carries out on a regular basis, however, Americans under 40 years of age estimate their risk of being infected with SARS-CoV-2 to be fatal at around 10%. That means: you overestimate it a thousand times.
In October 2020, the World Health Organization named an infection mortality rate of 0.23% across all age groups in its bulletin. According to calculations by the world’s most cited medical doctor, John Ioannidis from Stanford University, the value is even lower, at around 0.15%. In a survey by the Menzies Research Center in June 2021, Australians estimated the chance of being killed by the virus was 38%. This made them mistyped 160 times.
Just this little bit of polling shows to what extent journalists, politicians, and hand-picked “experts” have misled the population in the corona crisis and continue to do so. The Fourth Estate turned into a fake news slingshot, which urgently needs the “fact checks” with which it flattens critical voices. Incessant horror reports – far removed from any scientific knowledge they allegedly testify – fueled completely unrealistic fears. Only a grotesquely distorted risk perception led people en masse to, deeply frightened, accept drastic infection protection measures, even to demand and welcome further tightening – and to be deprived of their fundamental rights for an indefinite period of time.
