Ulla*, 12, had been suffering from severe epilepsy with absences, brief lapses in consciousness, since she was three years old. “Medication brought little improvement,” reports her mother, “the doctor treating her is at a loss.”
Due to concentration problems and constant fatigue, Ulla’s school performance had deteriorated rapidly over the past nine months. “At the moment,” says her mother, “she is suffering greatly from her failure at school. She had been a good student in the previous school year.”
But after twelve healing sessions at the 19th AUSWEGE/WAYS OUT therapy camp, the girl was “completely symptom-free—I haven’t noticed any more seizures,” as her mother confirmed in writing upon departure.
During the healing week, her daughter “felt good, and her fatigue in particular disappeared. She shows
interest in many things and can concentrate better,” which she demonstrated, for example, in craft projects that require patience.” Ulla “returned from individual treatment appointments happy, with shining eyes.”
Ulla was so enthusiastic about the camp that she insisted on staying with us on her own when her mother, a remedial therapist, had to leave early for work reasons. –
